broken glass... like broken promises...

This started a few months ago- this kind of moment when Ifeel like I am abandoned and lost. Where in I feel like everything is in placebut something is missing. It’s a splinter like feeling but I am bothered anduncomfortable just by knowing it. After what happened to me within the past 6months, I can say that I have little improvements I am more worldly, optimisticand a bit wiser when it comes to dealing with lot of things. But like what I’vesaid, I have occasional weird moments when I feel like there’s a lingering itchnot painful but prickly… so now I’m writing.

Actually, I knew where it was coming from. I am so afraid toadmit to them let alone admit it to myself. They now have their own lives and Ihave mine. We are growing apart and I can see the signs waaaaay before but I amafraid to deal with it. It’s the law of nature, a cycle of life and I knew itwas bound to happen. People change and people grow. The only permanent in lifeis change. It sucks that we have to deal with it.

It’s tricky because it is not every day that you can talkabout things like how you are so close before and how you are not today. And Iknew that they too are in a confusing limbo. Where things are forcedlycategorize as normal or just a “bump in the road” covering the harsh andinevitable truth that things are no longer exactly the same as it was before.

I just couldn’t imagine what happen in between. Maybe it’sjust me.

Disclaimer: I wrote this entry as an abridged version of my speech for the Career Orientation Week that I was supposed to attend but wasn't able to.

When the headmaster handed me my diplomat and flipped thetassel on my graduation cap, I knew it was the beginning of a new life. As Iclenched my fist and looked at the remnants of my student life, I knew I haveto bid goodbye to my youth and welcome adulthood. I have high expectations andfruitful dreams. I am ambitious and passionate because back then, I knew what Iwant and I am so geared up to fulfill it. I perpetually remind myself thatimmaturity is no longer an option, bullying is not a way to get respect and ignoranceis not an excuse to commit mistakes. Everything should be done according towhat is right and what is best for most people. I can still remember the vasthappiness and unexplainable excitement I have on the day of my graduation. I amso ready to leave my childhood life and be an adult. I am so thrilled to facepeople who are worldly and open-minded. I am so ecstatic to meet people who willcut shit and owned up to it because after all, adulthood is the real world.

Boy was I wrong thewhole time…

High school is a dry run to prepare us from facing whatcomes after because the real world is much depressing and repugnant. The realworld is just like high school. The difference is people are wearing suits andpaying taxes. I am so disappointed when I find out that the real world also hasjocks, nerds, outcasts, preps, sluts and royalties—and seriously, each one ofthem is exactly the ones I hated or loved when I was still in my teen-ish years. Bullies have stronger bites;back-stabbers have deeper stabs and ass-kissing are more than just a power-sucking-make-out.People in the real world are hungrier for success and power so they CAN and they WILL eat you alive if you go against their way. So in order for youto survive, you have two options; go against them and be eaten alive or be oneof them and eat the weaklings down to their very last breath.

Five years after my graduation, I am tediously performingthe latter. I chose not to be eaten alive and be the one in power. I kissed asseven licked foot to get what I want. I am a heartless bitch and I am not afraidto show it. But being an asshole is not what I signed up for. Even if this is amatter of choice, it is not something I want. I tried to escape, quitting fromone company to another only to end up doing exactly what I have escaped for. Itis a horrible travesty and it sucks that I can’t do anything about it. So forwhatever crap I will do in the future… Iam sorry. People like me are not born asshole; I just had to be… so I couldfit in and survive.

Romance Intolerance; The Death of Shakespearean Love

When I was a baby, my parents discovered that I have an allergy towards food with lactose content when I got a bad reaction from the regular baby milk that they fed me. From then on, I live my infant life with soy-based baby products or anything without lactose as an ingredient. My mom told me that I really don’t like the awful taste of my soya-based milk and I got used to snatching feeding bottles from other kids. Though it was bad, my mom allowed me from time to time just to replenish the cravings. My parents and the doctors didn’t know where it came from and reside to the fact that maybe I was born that way. I am not the only person who has allergies from food and certain substance. And despite of the advance technology that we have right now, medical experts are still unaware where these allergies came from and still dwell from the same reason that… we are born that way. However, if certain allergies from food and various materials are hereditary or obtained from genes, I can’t help but wonder, how about intolerance from emotions and feelings? Where are these shit came from? Is it safe to say that maybe we are just born that way?

I had this assumption a few days back when I woke up one morning and thought, “Women consider big romantic gestures as sweet yet very hard to believe because after all there is a fine line between true love and good acting…” I just recently discovered that most women today are, for lack of better term, cynical when it comes to romance. When a man is pulling a Shakespeare on us after the initial “Aaaaww” reaction the big question comes right after in a nano-second. Questions such as, are you for real or is this just a put-up show to get in to my pants? We easily questioned the lack of sincerity when we see bold quixotic act from a man who is wooing us.

The words and teachings of William Shakespeare are now in the fairy tales section. It is romantic, profound and wonderful but unreal. Despite the fact that we live in a very conservative (see: hypocrite) country, the new breed of the dalagang Filipinas are mostly freaked out when their Romeo surprise visit them on a weekend with bouquet of Holland Tulips and heart-shaped Ferrero Rocher on hand. And it is definitely a shocker when we wake up in the morning and see our man cooking breakfast instead of snoring loudly besides us. Women like paying equally on dates, we don’t want our pink purse carried around by our man, we don’t want our guys doing errands for us and we most certainly don’t want our man buying stuffs that we can’t buy for ourselves because we are on shopping ban. It might be an act or done in good intention but how can we differentiate?

We are becoming romance intolerant day by day and it sucks that we can’t do anything about it. As much as we force ourselves to believe that Prince Charming will come and sweep our feet away or Romeo will drink poison for mere profession of love (which is bizarre and stupid BTW), we can’t. It’s not the way it used to be. Women have been fucked up by men for gazillion generations, from year one until today so men can’t really blame us for thinking this way. Just like allergies, it is acquired genetically passing from generation to the other. Having short tolerance in romance is like a disease that can pass on by one person to another. And just like what medical doctors can say towards the origins of allergies, love experts will just definitely advice you with… Sorry Bro! Maybe they are just born that way.

Back to the Corporate World

First off, let me start by saying… “Aaaah! Tiz ish life…” After three months of social withdrawal, perpetually tedious functions and out of cash settlement, I finally landed a new gig. Everyone close to me knew that I am not the kind of person who will settle for doing nothing. I love working and earning money. Who doesn’t want money by the way?

Now that I have a new job (basically like the old one with a twist), I am back. Back to old routines; waking up early morning preparing for another day, being raped and brutally harassed by Metro Manila’s polluted air, face to face encounter with my computer 12 hours a day while pulling my hair in between, sleeping for merely 4-5 hours max every night, updating my social calendar, refilling my beer storage weekly and unlimited shopping spree. This is the kind of life err the only way of life that I am good at so why bother learning a new one? I tried quitting the corporate life and I sucked! Not only that it gave me a lot of additional pounds to lose but it made me act like a creepy-widowed-dysfunctional-twat.

At first, it felt nice. I am spending all of my waking hour eating, watching movies, reading books, FB, Twitter, etc. Sometimes, I go out with friends or by myself. I don’t have work stress, I don’t have to wake up early just to get beaten up by pile of workloads or an overly bitchy boss, I don’t have to act insanely heartless and put the plastic face mask on just to keep up with my fellow workers, I don’t have to listen to random ramblings about people I don’t care about. In short, I wake up, do my shit and sleep. SIMPLE. But I am not simple. Simplicity is not my cup of tea. I love being extravagant and loud. I always picture myself surrounded with lots of people (not necessary people I like), arguing or sharing pleasant stories and just be totally awesome.

Going back… My new gig entails a whole lot of changes career wise. I call it the “ultimate jump”. I can’t exactly divulge the nature of my work but it requires a lot of attention, thinking and understanding… a whole new level of technical writing—which is by the way, exciting!

To end this post, I must say that I never felt this way before. It is like despite of the long hours of work, shitload of hurtful past, almost healed heart, empty bank accounts… I feel like I am in the right track; I am in the right place, at the right time with the right people. It’s not perfect but it is reason enough to carve a smile on my face before I sleep. Hallelujah!

The Good, The Gay and The Ugly

After a series of failed relationships and numerous heartaches, my quest to find true love became an exhausting event. Most girls would dream of having a family and getting married eventually. I on the other hand would want to scratch that off and braved the wilderness of growing old alone.

I never thought I would come up with this but being alone for the rest of my life is better than spending my entire existence with some washed-up douche. Nowadays, finding the “husband” is like looking for a needle in a stack of hay. I’ve been lurking the dating area since I hit puberty and I always end up with a fucked-up guy or I ended fucking it up. I knew how hard it is to be in a relationship and the odds you need to beat in order to keep it. I am willing to take that risk before but somehow along the road I feel like there is no existing man that is worth the fight. I am not giving up on love rather I think love has already given up on me.

I formulated this sole bitter theory, that men nowadays are categorized into three; “the good in paper guy but already TAKEN”, “the good in paper guy but GAY” and the last but not the least is the “UGLY TRUTH guy”. I think I don’t need to elaborate on that last one because all you need is to think of all the negative thoughts, descriptions, traits (both physical and mental), personality, habits etc. put it all together and there you will have him.

I am not saying that single women like me should start signing up to every speed dating events or indulge themselves with blind dates and online mail order groom because we now have a serious scarcity of potential husbands. Actually, this is a rant… I am frustrated and a bit perplexed. Where are the good men? Where is the love? Where is my prince charming? I can’t honestly understand what happen in our world right now. Why all the good men are taken or gay and we are left with scumbags, assholes and dickheads? I was kind of convinced that the world had gone mad while I was asleep.

Should we start worrying right now? Should we start marrying gay guys instead? Should we start inserting personality make-over subjects in our educational system? Should the legislative system implement an anti-douchery law to prevent douche guys from multiplying? I’d really like to know because it sucks to stay hopeful yet keep on failing.

Sa mahigit tatlong taon kong pag aaral dito sa San Sebastian College Recoletos, nakilala ko ang mga taong maituturing kong tunay na kaibigan. Maaring hindi man sila perpekto ngunit masasabi ko na ang bawat isa sa kanila ay nagtataglay ng isang katangiang hindi mo mahahanap sa iba.

Marahil ang katangiang ito ay ang isang bagay kung bakit maraming hindi makaintindi sa amin. Kung ikaw ay papasok sa aming silid aralan maoobserbahan mo na ang bawat isa ay nagkakaintindihan, ika nga walang iwanan. Ang problema ng isa ay problema ng lahat. Para kaming isang pamilya na marunong rumespeto sa nararamdaman ng bawat isa. Hindi rin namin siguro masisisi ang iba kung bakit hindi maganda ang paningin nila sa amin. Sa bagay iba naman talaga ang tingin ng ibang mag-aaral sa mga nasa “first section”. Akala nila dahil kami ay nasa “first section” ay wala na kaming ginagawa kundi ang mag aral at mag aral na lang. Tulad din kami ng ibang magaaral, minsan nga mas malala pa ata kami sa kanila. Minsa’y napapagod din kami sa mga sunod sunod na proyekto, at nakakakuha din kami ng mababang marka sa Math. Marunong din kaming dumaldal at maglakwatsa. Normal din kaming tulad ng iba, ang pagkakaiba nga lang namin ay higit naming pinagtutuunan ng pansin ang bawat bagay na alam naming magiging parte ng aming kinabukasan.

Napagtitibay namin ang bawat relasyon ng mga kamag aral hindi lang sa loob ng silid maging sa labas man ng pinto. Hindi kailan man naging balakid ang pagiging iba ng section upang maputol na ang relasyon namin bilang magkakaibigan. Hindi man namin kasama ang isa’t isa sa iisang silid alam namin na maaring isang pader lang ang pagitan at ito’y hindi sapat na dahilan upang mapigil ang aming pinagsamahan.

Sa bawat araw na lumilipas, bawat minutong nagdaraan, bawat segundong nawawala, hindi namin maiwasang minsa’y sumagi sa aming isipan ang salitang “Salamat”. Marahil nakapagtataka, “ Salamat”, para sa lahat ng taong naging inspirasyon namin, sa aming mga guro na nagturo ng landas na ito upang tumibay ang aming pagsasamahan at sa amin syempre na nagbukas ng kani- kani lang puso’t isipan upang tanggapin ang bawat isa.

NOTE: I wrote this entry when I was still in highschool (Sept. 16,2001). I was a writer for Feedback; the official school publication of San Sebastian College Recoletos-Manila. I was inspired to write this entry because at that time our class was in the middle of shitty controversies. Despite of that, we managed to hold our shit together and ignore whatever crap that blocked our way. Unfortunately, this wasn't published because it might damage the reputation of the paper.

The End; A New Beginning

LOVE… Why do we keep on searching for this thing called LOVE? We as human beings devote our entire life looking for love or giving love despite the fact that we often get hurt and shattered into pieces. Love really works in mysterious ways. Love can make you happy. Love can make you cry. Love can make you angry. Love can kill you. Love can change your personality. Love can inspire you. Love can make you strong. Love can make you weak. Love can fool you. Love can do wonders but it can also destroy. LOVE—four letter word yet one big meaning.

I just couldn’t understand why most of us girls often found ourselves in this particular situation where in we are falling for jerks who don’t appreciate our efforts yet we let them unnerve us. Is it because every time we switch on our television or flip a romance pocket book, we always read this common equation—girl+love+scumbag boy+change+good boy= happily ever after? Have you ever really know someone who happens to be in a relationship with a jerk that works? I guess none because it doesn’t exist. It only happens in Robin Padilla and Sharon Cuneta's movies.

What’s the fuss all about? I was in that situation six months ago. I fell in love with a classic textbook asshole, a stick figure with no soul. I fell in love so hard that changed my entire perspective. At that moment, I was living in a different world. The feeling is boundless happiness and numbing joy. It was sinful yet addictive. I was blinded by my feelings and let my whole life shattered into pieces. It was too late for me to notice that while I am enjoying the best days of my life with that someone, I am destroying the things that I have worked for before. The worst part was I can’t blame anyone but myself because it was I who lead me into that shitty mess. I stubbornly shut my friends and family’s call to warn me. I even pulled a “You and Me Against the World” shit on them. I wasn’t really thinking straight at that time. I don’t care even if I was slowly forgetting my responsibilities at home and work, I don’t care even if I was rarely home, I don’t care even if I knew that I am violating someone else’s feelings, I don’t care even if I was using my friends’ name just to cover my shit up as long as I am with him and nothing else matters to me.

"Take nothing but pictures... Leave nothing but footprints... Kill nothing but time..."

I found myself walking on thin ice. One by one my friends were turning their back at me. My family despised me. People around me got tired of looking and talking to me. That was when I was forced to wake up. And when I opened my eyes, I no longer have my old life. Now, I was trying to cope up and fix what’s left for me. I am broken and shattered but life has to go on. The world will not stop from spinning just because I stumble and screwed mine. I can honestly say that I am fine now. I have moved on and accept the changes. It might take awhile before I can fall in love again or it might not happen again. All I know is, what happen three months ago is really life altering. Not only that I learned so much but it makes me stronger and wiser. I now know how to appreciate every little thing I have and be a better person.

Yes I have moved on but I am not yet ready to fall in love again. I am not looking for anyone right now and I am enjoying my life as it is. I am not saying that I am giving up on love but I am definitely admitting that I am afraid to use my heart again. I don’t know if I will be married someday. I don’t even know if I wanted to be married at all. All I know is I am still hoping that I won’t be alone when I am old and wrinkly. I hope…

Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah Ze Muzikal returned to the stage for the 7^th time giving the audience a power-packed and breath taking performance from the leading actors and actresses of our generation. Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah was based on the comic book written by award winning contemporary writer Carlo Vergara and was given to life on stage by the legendary Chris Martinez and was directed by Chris Millado.

The story is about a gay beautician who lives a boring life in a barrio. His life changes when a magical pink rock falls down from heaven and hit him while he was taking a bath. Together with his sidekick Didi, also a homosexual, they discovered the hidden power of the magical pink rock and they fight the forces of evil. To make the whole thing short, the story is just any other typical fairy-tale about a super hero who saves humankind yet with a twist.

Eula Valdez played the role of Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah, the hero of the story. Ada becomes Zaturnnah every time he swallows the magical pink rock. Eula is a widely known actress in the big screen and Philippine TV. After being marked as the powerful Amor Powers in one of ABS-CBN soap opera, she was indeed awarded as a very promising serious actress in her generation. But surprisingly, she portrayed the role of Zaturnnah perfectly which was way beyond expected. I seriously couldn’t picture her out portraying the role of Zaturnnah because the whole dynamic of seriousness and edginess in her characters in the movie and television. Yet she did an awesome job, letting the audience felt and believed that she is a gay person trapped inside a superwoman’s body. Didi was played by Gabe Mercado which I wanted to commend for being the life of the whole play. His acting was brilliant and exemplary. He mostly gave punch lines that made the whole crowd laughed. Zaturnnah’s archenemy, Queen Fermina Suarestella Baroux was played by one of the nation’s pride stage actress, Pinky Amador. Needless to say, her performance was beyond outstanding. Of course, in every story there’s always the love interest. Ada/Zaturnnah’s object of affection was portrayed by Eula’s real life partner Rocky Salumbides. He might be casted among the veterans but still his portrayal in the role of Dodong wasn’t bad enough.

As I sat on my chair and watched the play, I realized something; this isn’t all about a funny story about homosexuals having super-powers. It is how our society is starting to embrace and appreciate the wonderful works of the third gender. Slowly, our culture is beginning to widen its belief about norms. The gay society have lifted their pride and proved to the whole humankind that they are not to be shelved in this world because just like all of us who can define our gender in an option boxes, they also can make wonders and amazing job that we can all be pompous of. To sum it all up, Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah Ze Muzikal! Vack With A Vengeance really deserves a standing ovation because they earned every bit of clamor and praise.

On Quitting the Evil Empire-- Corporate Sell Out or Full Time Bum; Choosing Between the Lesser Evil

Before anything else, Happy Independence day to all my fellow countrymen. Don't worry, this is not an entry about our history and I will not yap about it like most bloggers do. However, this is an entry about my own personal freedom from corporate slavery.

I haven’t written anything remotely real for quite sometimes. However this time, I can’t use the same excuse that I’ve been using for the past years—the same lame ass excuse about being busy. For those who haven’t heard it yet, I already quit my corporate job three months ago. Basically, my whole life roll around attending occasional job interviews, baby sitting my dogs and watching re-runs of How I Met Your Mother so I have all the time in my hands to update this blog with entries and not just pictures of foods and other stuffs.

After three years of captivity, I decided to free myself from corporate slavery and brave the wilderness of unemployment. I’ve been overly bitching out how I hate my work constantly with my other friends and few special people that I used to work with, in that god-forsaken place (you know who you are *wink). And we always fantasize the idea of quitting until three months ago, one by one, we finally did. FYI, I don’t actually hate my work. It’s the environment that I refused to get used to, that I hate.

Yes, you read that last part right. I love every single detail of what I am doing in that place. I’ve grown to be a whole lot better in terms of up leveling the technical aspect of my writing skills. I honed my craft and learned new things therefore I must be grateful for that. However, working inside the walls of the Empire really sucks. Every single day is a battle. It’s like surviving in the jungle. You must not let your guards down or you’ll be the one going down. I am sick and tired of playing their mind games and pretending to be somebody else just to fit in. For three years, I played the role of the black hearted-stubborn-back stabbing-bitch. I had to embody a strong exterior so others will not have the slightest idea that they can bring me down. But over the years I realized, I am not that person. I can’t continue to become mean and heartless to live and continue to exist with them… and so I quit.

So here I am, spending most of my time inside my room. I haven’t figured it out yet where to even begin coping up with what I have lost. Sure, there are still loose end factors in this scenario. This isn’t the whole picture yet. I have yet to unfold the whole story. After three months, I am still stuck in a very confusing limbo and I haven’t been over with the emotional damage that caused this disfigured reality. There’s so much to tell, so many emotions to pour out but for now I leave you with this.

The Notebook; A Review

Nicholas Spark's The Notebook is a story of two hearts that conquered everything. They still found themselves holding on to their promise even on the very verge of breaking apart. Actually, I just read the book and to tell you the truth, I found it very unconvincing that it could happen in real life.

He said (yes, he's a guy for goodness sake) the story is really inspiring and it made him cry like a baby. It somehow touch his heart and made him realize that love could be so powerful and endless. And that made me disagree...

The Notebook is just one of those stories that people casually talk about at any time of the day. Yes, it is part of reality and there's nothing new to it. Yes, it will touch your heart and it will even make you cry. But in the end, you'll realize that it is not really new at all. As a matter of fact, this novel is so predictable that you'll get the whole point even if you're going halfway in your reading.

I already know stories that have protagonists just like them. A lot of these stories have characters who are totally in love but can't pursue their relationship because of their contrasting social statuses. Stories like these talk about the never ending tale of Romeo and Juliet. It even happens in real life. But the bottom line is, this story is made not to show the world how powerful love is, but to merely satisfy the hunger felt with those in the situation.

It is a defense mechanism for the real world. That's what I've learned in the novel which most of us didn't know. Two people from opposite realms can feel the magic of intimacy. But the question remains, how long can they handle it? Reality is so hard to accept because you've got to follow what the culture dictates you to do. You can't do anything about it because you belong to that race. Yes, you have options to choose; it's either do what you want, become happy but forever suffer for fleeting the law or go with the flow in the same river. We must know that the intellectual ability to perceive reality is a gift; the volatile power to choose is a right. This right from which man is responsible in the consequence of his choice.

I felt the urge of spilling my tears upon reading the novel, because I do feel pity for Noah and Ally. But the thing is, I know that there is a silver line that separates fantasy and reality. As for me, this novel is a fantasy and I am in reality. This is a supplement for those who want an assurance that love conquers all. They wanted to justify that love has no boundaries, that love knows no limitations and that love recognizes equality. But that happens only in novels, in movies, in fairy tales. We, on the other hand, are not Cinderella, and nor we are not Jennifer Lopez in Maid in Manhattan. We belong to the real world, meet real people and deal with real situations. We've got emotions but we have instincts. We've got feelings to follow but we are made to become rational beings. We can' force the society to believe that two people from different worlds can live happily ever after because of LOVE... that's a load of crap!

And if you recognize (for those who have read the book) in the latter part of the story.... The old Ally suffering from an Alzheimer's disease did recognize Noah, but after a minute, she drove Noah away and refused to be acquainted with him again. I think it is the author's way of explaining to the readers that their story is just a fantasy for us to feel good, but after reading the whole novel, we have to snap back to reality and go on living within the real world, embracing the bitter fact of realism.

At the end of the novel, I found myself wondering how they end up together as if everything's alright. It led me back to my understanding that this is just a novel. Not true and only a fiction, merely based on imagination.

Y Tu Mama Tambien; A Review

"Y Tu Mama Tambien" is a Spanish term which means, "And your mama, too". This art film is one of those Bildungsroman films that could begin or end with the phrase, "And my life was never the same again." The director, Alfonso Cuarón, works with a quicksilver fluidity. The movie is a mixture of sex, drama and a little comedy. The movie bagged awards in the best in foreign language category in Academy and Sundance.

The whole movie takes place in Mexico. It focuses on the two hormonally consumed teenage boys, Julio (Gael García Bernal) and Tenoch (Diego Luna), whose immature macho games seem more like baby steps when they meet Luisa (Maribel Verdú), a sad-eyed young woman who is married to Tenoch's older cousin. Tenoch and Julio come on to Luisa by promising her a tour of the wondrous but fictitious beach called Heaven's Mouth. In the end they do not only discover a paradise but a one of a kind experience that will shock their lives.

Y Tu Mama Tambien speaks about reality, all the things that are normally and usually happening in the real world. The movie talks about friendship and betrayal. Some secrets and lies are mostly about sexual betrayal, which is inevitable for juvenile characters that promise fidelity to their girlfriends and immediately try to get laid. The true meaning of friendship was established here in the movie.

Julio and Tenoch were best of friends since their childhood. They were inseparable and treated each other as brothers. Their journey with Luisa, was purely for fun and experience. And without their knowledge, the journey proved to be a test of their friendship, of how long can they keep each other's trust and loyalty. At the end of the movie, they had discovered that they weren't true and loyal. They ended up knowing that they had screwed their own girlfriends and themselves too.

Morality is an issue here. The film exposes explicit scenes, which is strictly for adults only. But what is good with Cuaron is, he exemplified every scene which explains why that scene is included. He did a flawless job in giving reasons why they had to include breast exposure and three some sexual intercourse.

Oftentimes, morality and hypocrisy are connected. And if that's the case, viewing this film is not suitable for you. Y Tu Mama Tambien is a story that mirrors the real situation that is actually happening in the real world. And that includes betrayal, sex, violence and even death. We must admit to the fact that life is not always happy ending. It's not always "tweetums" moments where in a guy kisses a girl on the cheeks and they will look away and giggle as if they were contented. Viewing this movie with a shallow mind will only judge it by saying, "this is an X-rated film". Though I agree that it is not suitable for minors because they are too young to understand. It is not easy to shift fairy tales to reality, as it is not easy to explain what could be the next thing that will happen after Cinderella and her Prince Charming's wedding day.

I must admit that this movie is not advisable to be watched by the whole family. It is not a movie to be seen while snacking on popcorn. It is definitely not for kids and even adults who think like 4-year old brats. This movie needs an open-minded viewers who will percieve it as a sensible film and not for pleasuring purposes. The story is so easy to understand, actually the plot isn't much of a Da Vinci Code that you have to decode every single thing just to get the picture. It is easy to get along with the story.

The movie defies the invisible line separating the shallow progressions of the childish upper-middle class teenagers, to the stricken betrayed wife of a upper-middle class man.

In the horizon of a decaying improvised countryside, beside the decaying wife, the blindness of ignorance and lack of compassion of these teenagers to the plight of those around them was rather shocking.

The denunciation of status division, which is so rampant in Mexico today, shines clearly through the main characters. As they drive through the improvised countryside, the woman seeking her gleaming destination, the callous teenagers seeking nothing but worldly pleasure because they are blinded by their lust and lives of comfort.

Yet, this movie seems to state the ignorance and crudeness of the upper class, and the frailty of betrayal. There is no happy ending in the midst of this lustful existential benightedness, merely the fateful expected ending.

For the teenagers, the journey is a mere pleasure trip. There is no coming of age - for there is no consequences or responsibility or retribution for them. In the last scene where they meet, there is merely their own private shame and denial. And for the woman, in her weakness, driven to tragedy, there is only one ending… Death!

Do I recommend this film? Absolutely yes. It might not be a super budgeted movie but this is worth watching for.

Now, what the hell I'm trying to imply... I don't know it's just that I am so bored after I scanned my mails and found out that it was full of messages from a friend of mine I met in Fling.Com (the one I'm talking about in my previous entry)... I watched the film, somehow touched by it and now I am sharing my thoughts here in my blog.... Anyway.. that's it.. CIAO!

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus; Understanding the concepts of both worlds

Couples are goggling around the idea of how they will lessen the fight scene and focus on how to make their lives hassle-free. It downright to the issues that mostly blame by these lovebirds… well, that there’s an undefined gap between women’s mentality to men’s egos.

Now who’s to be blame?

I guess it’s easy to say than doing it but accept it or not… everything that happens in and out of your relationship will depends on how the couples deals with it.

Adjustments are crucial to both and it MUST be a part of your relationship. But these changes should be done by meeting halfway. Better select the option where you can revitalize your partner’s bad behavior but not totally spring out a new person from her. Let your partner be themselves and lighten down the things that you thought would make them a better person.

Communication is important than any solid items inside a shiny metallic gift wrappers. Girls would mostly appreciate a healthy and solemn conversation with their man on their anniversary than a diamond necklace. Well, of course I didn’t mean to shut all gift giving days and concentrate with saliva drying chit chat in Starbucks. Price is not a requirement, it’s just an additional points but try hitting on the sentimental part… that whacks off the whole thing.

Absence is one of the most unnoticed lapses on both parts. Making your partner knows that you think of him in the middle of a traffic jam in EDSA will flattened his stress lines in his forehead. It doesn’t really necessary that you have to go and visit her in the middle of the night, her parents might call security having you mistaken as a robber or dugu dugu gang. Just a simple text reminding her how much you miss her will do the trick.

Stress is the number one adversary of healthy relationship. Most women tends to be extra bitchy when they are in the middle of mountainous pile of paper works as well as men could be a total grumpy when they have three important deadlines all in the same day and same time. The trick: take an extra effort to separate work from your social life. Let your partner be your inspiration to your work. To hell with all those deadlines… I am SUPERMAN and Wonderwoman is my girlfriend’s nickname…*wink

Security… four words, SE-CU-RI-TY. Saying I love you three times a day is not enough to prove your man that you love him. Making him feel that you love him wherever you go, even if Brad Pitt is butt naked in front of you…

Broken promises… another number one No-No to relationship. A promise is a promise. Kill the guy who invented the saying, promises are made to be broken. If you can’t keep promises then better not do it at all.

Cheaters are the foulest creature ever existed in the planet HooLaHU… There’s nothing to explain about this one. Rule number one: Love is the most dangerous game to play. So do not pretend that you can crack of your partner’s nuts. You’ll definitely trick her ones but the Big Guy up there is looking right at ya'll… BEWARE of that Divine punishment. It sucks like a lot.

And finally… just make an effort to make the relationship work. Don’t let him do all the works and you’ll sit there having the best times of your lives. Make your relationship rocks by being positive. Don’t miss a day to tell your partner how much you love him or her… because you’ll never know how much time you’ve wasted before it’s too late…

A Short Story

Long time ago, there was this little girl who fell madly in love with a young man. This little girl watched this certain young man from afar dreaming that someday he will look at her with sweetness in his eyes. Until one day, fate decided to bring the little girl a little bit closer to that young man. They became friends. For that little girl, it was a dream that came true. It was more than she could wish for. She felt contented and happy.

Then suddenly, the wind of fate blew in the opposite direction. Someone interfered in their friendship. The little girl had to make a choice between her feelings and someone else happiness. The little girl chose that someone else happiness. The little girl decided to step back a little far from that young man to make things uncomplicated.

It was devastating. At a very young age, that little girl had to face the ugly truth and reality that the love of her life was in the arms of someone so close to her… someone she also loves, someone from her family. The little girl watched the young man and his new found love holding hands and building great memories. But then they broke up and that young man disappeared.

Ten years after that fateful day… that little girl has grown to be a young successful woman. She is now smarter, courageous, independent but heartless. She refuses to fall in love and get hurt. So she went on with her life but carefully not to give that much love to others just to avoid getting hurt again.

But that young man from the little girl’s past suddenly came back. Like two old friends, they began seeing each other and hanging out. Together they forget all of the things behind them and all their issues. She thought she could now handle herself. She thought she is now wiser. She thought she will not fall anymore. Yet, even time couldn’t ease the feelings. Suddenly, she was young again. All of her rules, standards and beliefs that she worked hard for were gone.

Love swept away all the anger, the pain and the issues from the past. And in just one whisked of that man’s finger, she is now fallen madly in love… again. But still, in the eyes of that man, she is still that little girl… just a friend nothing more, nothing less.

On Being Care Free...

I already hit the mid-age range. I am 25 and still single, living under my parent’s roof and making money out of writing filth and developing technical shit. Life is too fast for me and the never ending drama never fails to ruin every minute of my day. There are moments when I tried to ignore and just go with the flow but part of me just wanted to give up. I don’t want my first 2011 entry to become nauseating and emoish fucktard piece of crap, but lately things have been pretty much overwhelming.

For the first time in my 25 years of existence, I never celebrated my birthday. I don’t feel like celebrating it because I don’t feel good. There were crap loads that happened before the holidays and it pretty much ruined every occasion that I used to enjoy. Well, it started with how the evil empire became horrible and so impossible to deal with, then came the rise and fall of my unspoken desire for my best friend whom I loved for more than 10 years but refused to accept, the big FB war with one of the closest friend and the dreams that I wanted to pursue but couldn’t because I am too scared to go beyond my comfort zone and needless to say, my non-stop domestic schiz. My life was a total mess and I am like a decaying piece of wood withered in the dessert. So instead of going out and having fun, I locked myself inside my room and dig my grave.

However, after the holidays when I forced myself to rise back from the dead and continue living a mediocre life, there were sudden changes. Every piece of crap before the holidays that killed me have somewhat vanished. Well, the evil empire decided to cut the power tripping douche into his position so the evil empire became a little less eviler, then the FB war with that close friend of mine ended sweetly and nice and I am starting to moved on and just accept the fact that my one great love will never be mine. So lo and behold… things been great.

But that didn’t last long… not even long enough to last for a week. I thought I could be stress-free for a month but I was wrong. I received an overseas call from my beloved cousin. She is now in a very delicate situation. Her health is falling apart and I am so fucking worthless because I am here and there she was. I know she has her fiancé and her mom but I want to be there too. I want to hold her hands and say that things will gonna be ok because I am here.

I am aging… and my shits are too impossible to deal with and it keeps on coming and coming and I wanted to just break down and give up. But I can’t…

When I was still in my teenish age, my problems were just so simple. And what I always do to keep those problems away was to run away and be with my Hampstead friends. My Aunt owns a condo somewhere near my house and whenever I encounter my shitload drama that is my safe house. I have friends there that, I don’t know… they are care free, funny and awesome. That place is my fantasy world because whenever I am there, I tend to forget the real shitty life I have. It’s like Disneyland for young adults who want to believe that fantasy do exist. But that was before. Now, most of them aren’t here anymore. But tonight, they surprised me with a midnight visit here in my house. I don’t know what happened. I just received a call from them they told me they missed me and they will come by. And I found myself forgetting everything stored for me and just ran away with them. Just like the old times, spontaneous, care free and awesome.

Now I am back here in my room, facing my computer, doing my work and thinking about how screwed my life is. But now, it felt a little lighter, because I just realized, even though my problems aren’t so simple the way it used to be… there are still part of me that isn’t broken. I still have my safe house, I still have my friends and I know I am strong enough and smart enough to make it through. Despite of the shitload and assface people around me, I know I can handle it. I know I can… I just have to add a little faith in myself and became the old me who can whisk any things by just believing.

It was bright and sunny afternoon. The canteen was crowded and noisy. I was walking like a Chinese princess with metal clamps covering my feet. I can hardly breathe amidst the huge havoc inside the small cafeteria. The whole place was crowded and the students were all walking in back to back, chest-to-chest and almost face-to-face position. I am covering my boobs because it might catch a hand accidentally or worst… intentionally.

Then someone passed me and said, “Ang arte mo naman!” I was completely stunned and I couldn’t react. I was hoping that I could come up with something to defend my embarrassment and let the bitch side of me emerged from within. But it didn’t happen. I was just standing, frozen with a dropped jaw and felt annihilated at that instant.

That was nine years ago. It all started there…

I wasn’t still over the fact that some guy from the hetero class (lower section) had just degraded me in public and in front of the whole H.S. Sebastinians. I was insulted and humiliated and at that very moment I knew I wanted revenge. I was a bitch back then. Everyone knew me as the girl who loves troubles and bossing people around. I was “the mean girl” back in the days. (Notice the operative words are back in the days… lolz).

Ten days after that shocking moment… I was expecting a visitor. We have a scheduled study group session for our finals. When I heard knocks on my front door, I was so sure that it was him. However, he got me surprised when I saw a typical familiar face hiding behind him. It was him, the guy who offended me in public. It was weird and really awkward. Silence enveloped our place for awhile, and then someone said, “Hannah, this is Jan Paul… Jan Paul this is Hannah”…

I didn’t know what happen next but the next thing I knew, we were laughing and telling jokes. He was so gentleman, easy to be with and funny. From that moment, the anger had just vanished into thin air.

I didn’t know how it started… I just woke up one day we were exchanging promises, dreams and plans. I care for him and he cares for me too. I am his shadow, his light and his guide while he is my hero, my protector and my savior. He let me walk in inside his life while I let him unnerve mine.

We spent zillion of times together, we count sleepless nights on the phone and we gave each other importance more than anybody else in this world. We’ve been through a lot of trials and tests. Miraculously, we managed to surpass them all. I never mentioned how much I owe him my life. I was self-centered, arrogant and a bitch. But despite of that, he accepts me for who I am. He never asks me to change. He simply loves me the way I am. When I am down, he makes me feel special. He never ask for more than I can give and he was never afraid to let the whole world knows how he cares for me.

I remember back then, I made you walked from Luneta Grandstand up to San Sebastian in Recto. I knew you were mad and I can feel your temper rising because I was acting like a grumpy kid. I was stomping my feet, yelling curses and humiliating you in public for shallow reasons I’d rather not talk about. But you didn’t leave. You were right behind me while I was nursing my shit. You were just there, watching me making a fool of myself, assuring that I will reach home safely.

But, there were times that you hurt me too. Not intentionally but because I know you were fed up with me. One day, you called at my house and told me that you were giving up. You can no longer hold my shits and tolerate my tantrums. I was stunned… I can’t speak; everything became hazy and everything stumbled down on me. I was shattered into million pieces. I cried that night… the whole night. We didn’t hang out or talked for the whole month. I missed you so much. I tried to find someone else… someone better than you. But I can’t.

I prayed hard. It was harder than I usually do. Suddenly, you called me and patched things up. Whatever your reason, I didn’t think twice, I just can’t let you go just like that. We’ve been through almost all the shittiest thing in life… and our friendship couldn’t end just like that.

It has been nine years since the day we’ve met. Nine years of ups and downs in our friendship. I understand that you can’t be visible at all times yet you make it assured that you can be reach each time I needed a shoulder to cry on. Nine years of fun and I just want to let you know that I can’t live my life the way I am living now without you filling the part. I want you to know that at times I tend to forget your birthday, or I often forget to inform you that I already change my number but always remember you are always in my heart. And no matter how far the distance between us, our friendship will always be unbreakable and irrevocable. I can’t imagine myself without you. THANKS for being such an amazing friend.

From An Epic Week to a Bitter Farewell

Last week went by from ultimate fun and ended up with something offensively sad. As everyone knew, I took a week of vacation from my work or quoting the Sunriseshotgun’s term “The Evil Empire” because I had to entertain my relatives (my favorite Japanese cousin) because this might be her last vacation as a single girl. Despite of the language barrier and the distance, Shuri (the Japanese cousin) and I shared wonderful moments together. So when she told me that she will take her last vacation as a single girl here in the Philippines, I immediately file my leave of absence WITHOUT PAY! I know I am broke and I have tons of debts, but she is the only family I have… Do I need to think twice?

The VAKAZYON GRANDE

We savor every minutes of their vacation. We stretch every strength and power we have till we all drop. We ate a LOT, went out and meet other people, I found my first stalking experience and it is sorta freaky (story will come later) and by quoting a cliché, WE PAINTED THE TOWN RED!

On their last day, about 20 hours before their departure, all of our energy was used up and I am down with fever and flu. But like what I have said, it was all worth it. So instead of doing the last minute shopping which is the original plan, my cousin and I decided to stay home and rest. I on the other hand continued with my stalking agenda. Our parents did the last minute shopping and packing. Then of course, it was time to say goodbye.

Back to my Meds

Before I start blabbing about this topic let me refresh your memory. A year ago, I was diagnosed with first stage of diabetes, meaning my sugar level was too high and I am .1 away from being a diabetic. So my Endoc prescribed tons of medications to control my sugar level and to make me lose weight. I took the medicine for awhile but because of my superficial belief of self destruction I stopped. It was a bad move. Maybe I was so fucked up at that time and now everything is taking a toll on me. We (my cousin and I, we included this in our vacation agenda last week) visited a dermatologist because we are so vain. We tried everything we wanted on the menu including the lipo slim. A lipo slim ladies and gentlemen is a non surgical liposuction procedure. It has this handy laser thingy that melts your fat away just by rubbing on the affected area. I swear I lose 3 cm. in just 15 minutes but eventually gained it back because we ate at Chili’s after. LOLZ! Thank God Dra. Foronda gave this for free because if not, there goes my 5k away…

Going back… Dra. Foronda suggested procedures and solutions to help me lose weight without undergoing the knife. After tracking my medical records, BOOM! My past high blood sugar level issue was brought up. So to cut the story short, I am back in my meds, back to the basic food diet, back to my perpetual nausea, loose bowel movement and vomiting… in short, back to being a lame ass walking drugstore.

The Departure PART TWO

Being in the Evil Empire for more than two years is actually a record breaking. Despite of the fucked up environment that we have here, I still managed to cope up and stay sane because I still have some people around me trying our best to ignore and just survive. However, a year ago, the crimsonabstract gave up and I was left alone in this God forsaken jungle. The moment he handed the resignation letter, I was an inch close to sending mine. But I want to prove something. I wanted to show the world that I can handle my own shit alone and I can survive. But I struggled. And so I FORCED and BEGGED the sunriseshotgun to apply and share the misery with me. I know that move was too selfish but I managed to convince him. After almost six months of him working in the Evil Empire, everything gets way evil, growing fangs and blowing flames every day. Misery couldn’t even catch up with what we are having and the desolation came twice harder for my friend. So he also quit.

Today is his last day and I on the other hand will be left alone, again. I know how he tried to stay but things are really not good and I don’t want to be selfish anymore. Kaya Dude, Salamat ng Marami!

Quoting Barney Stinson "When I am feeling sad... I stop being sad and be AWESOME instead..." All shit will end someday and will be high fiving and spreading are awesomeness for all eternity.

This will be the first entry for my new category Food Trips. As we all know, I love food so much and the BBRC gang always allot time to find the best tasting food anywhere and anytime.

But since this is my blog, I will rate the food as to how much I enjoyed eating it. Remember this is just my personal opinion. Here's the legend; 5 Stars- Mouth Watering, Mind Boggling, Orgasm Inducing piece of heaven, 4 Stars- A good one but not worth eating again, 3 Stars- NAAAH! It's OK 2 Stars- Ahuh!?! and 1 Star- Two words; FORGET IT!
